How it works

How Daylyf works — book UK daycations by the day

Daylyf is a mobile app for daytime stays — not overnight hotels. Guests find brilliant UK spaces to work, rest, or escape the kitchen table; hosts list rooms, studios, and odd little gems for daytime bookings. Search to payment happens in the app. This page is the instruction manual (but shorter).

  1. Search UK daycation spaces

Pick a place and date, then snoop photos, amenities, and house rules like a very polite detective.

  2. Book in the app

Instant listings: pay and confirm straight away. Approve-first listings: request, host responds within 24 hours, then you pay. See FAQ for the full picture.

  3. Enjoy your daycation

Turn up during your booked hours, open Active Stay in the app if you need access details or Wi‑Fi, have a lovely time, then toddle home and leave a review.

For guests

Find and book UK daycation spaces by the day

Need a quiet studio, a creative bolt-hole, or somewhere to reset that isn't your sofa? Book premium spaces for fixed daytime hours — home before bedtime, every time.

  • Search by city, postcode, or area — filter by date and properly stalk the photos, amenities, and host profile before you commit. Healthy stalking only.
  • Read house rules upfront — every listing spells out what's allowed so nobody gets surprised on the day. Surprises are for birthday cakes, not bookings.
  • Save favourites — heart the spaces you like and come back when you're ready to book. No pressure, no nagging emails.
  • Weather for your search day — pick a date on the home search and open the forecast before you book: conditions, highs and lows, rain chance, and wind. Plan the coat. Or don't.

Send a booking request and pay securely in the app

Bookings stay in the app on purpose — payments stay protected, and you get one tidy thread with your host from "hi, is Tuesday free?" to "thanks, lovely day."

  • Two booking modes — hosts choose instant booking (pay now, confirmed after payment) or approve before guests pay (you respond within 24 hours, then they pay). Details in our FAQ.
  • Secure card payments — guests pay in the app after approval (or immediately on instant listings), with receipts tucked in booking history.
  • No website checkout — daylyf.com is for reading and nodding wisely; booking and payment live in the app where they belong.

Message your host and use Active Stay on the day

A quick message before you arrive saves everyone from the classic "where's the key?" panic on the doorstep.

  • In-app messaging — ask about access, Wi‑Fi, parking, or timing without handing out your mobile number to strangers. Civilised.
  • Active Stay in the app — during your booked hours, open Active Stay for access notes, Wi‑Fi, and the emergency help button. Your booking updates in the background when you do — no separate "tap to check in" step. Optional arrival photos if you want them; skip if you don't.
  • Leave a review — tell future guests what was great (and help brilliant hosts get more bookings). Karma, but useful.

Stay windows

Check-in and check-out windows for guests and hosts

Daylyf is built for daytime stays only — no overnights, no sleeping bags on the landing. Fixed windows keep everyone aligned on when guests arrive and when they leave.

Check-in window

6:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Guests arrive during the host's chosen check-in hour inside this morning window. During the visit, they use Active Stay in the app — not a mandatory check-in button.

Check-out window

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Stays finish inside the evening window so guests are home before bedtime and hosts get their space back on time.

  • For guests — each listing shows the host's check-in and check-out hours before you book. You choose your stay slot inside those windows, then open Active Stay in the app during your visit. Arrival photos are optional, not required.
  • For hosts — when you create a listing, pick your earliest check-in hour (6, 7, or 8 AM) and latest check-out hour (6, 7, or 8 PM). Your calendar and house rules sit on top — the windows stay consistent across Daylyf.
  • No overnight stays — daycations only. If you wanted a hotel, you'd have booked a hotel. Daylyf is for daylight hours and your own bed at night.

For guests

Check the weather for the day you are booking

British weather: famously chatty. Daylyf shows a forecast for your search date so you can plan before you pack the car or brave the walk from the station.

  • Search with a date — on the home screen, enter where you're going and which day you want. That unlocks the weather panel for your search area.
  • Forecast on results and listings — see conditions, day high and low, rain chance, and max wind on search results and individual listings for the same date.
  • Plan the practical bits — garden room in April? Windy coastal studio? Now you know whether to bring an umbrella, sunscreen, or just lowered expectations.

For hosts

List your space and accept daytime booking requests

Got a room that sits empty till teatime? List a studio, meeting nook, garden room, or whatever counts as "lovely for a few hours" — and set rules that work for you.

  • Create a listing in the app — photos, description, amenities, pricing, and daytime availability. From your phone. Like magic, but with forms.
  • Set check-in and check-out hours — choose your earliest guest check-in (6, 7, or 8 AM) and latest check-out (6, 7, or 8 PM) inside Daylyf's daytime windows. Guests see them on your listing before they request.
  • Set house rules and capacity — spell out what guests can do during their booked hours. Mark a listing pet-friendly if you allow pets (up to two when enabled). "No drum kits" is still a valid rule.
  • Choose booking mode when you edit — instant booking or approve-first. On a published listing, change mode from Edit listing (it is read-only on the properties list).
  • Check-in details after payment — once a guest has paid, Daylyf automatically sends check-in instructions, house rules, and Wi‑Fi in Messages. No manual copy-paste on accept.
  • Accept or decline within 24 hours — on approve-first listings, pending requests expire if you do not respond in time. Your dashboard shows the countdown.

Verify your identity and receive host payouts securely

Trust works both ways. We handle ID checks and payouts in the app so you can focus on being a welcoming host — not chasing invoices.

  • Host identity verification — complete ID checks before your listing goes live. Guests book with confidence; you get fewer "is this legit?" messages.
  • Stripe-powered payouts — earnings land in your connected account when bookings finish happily. No envelope of cash under the mat.
  • Booking dashboard — requests, upcoming daycations, past visits, and archived message threads in one place. Your spreadsheet can retire.
  • Earnings dashboard — track payouts, listing views, and your Hosting score (separate from a guest's trust score).
  • Host and guest on one email — list spaces as a host and book daycations as a guest with the same sign-in; switch modes in the app when you travel.

Manage availability, house rules, and guest reviews

Tweak your calendar, reply to messages, and build a reputation as the host everyone wants to book again.

  • Availability calendar — block dates or open new daytime slots whenever it suits. Tuesday off for the cat? Done.
  • Guest messaging — answer questions and confirm details before each booking. Five minutes now beats a confused guest on the doorstep.
  • Reviews and repeat guests — great days bring people back for another escape from their kitchen table.
  • Daylyf no-noise policy — every listing follows platform rules: no parties, loud music, or neighbour-disturbing gatherings. Host house rules sit on top of that.
